On the Pier
Chloe takes a bite of the poisonous apple as Kate watches nearby. Kate flashes back to poisoning the apple, then approaches Chloe and Daniel. Chloe has a sour look on her face and complains that the apple tastes funny, then proceeds to throw it out. Kate states that it’s a Granny Smith, and it’s supposed to be sour. “I didn’t say sour. I said it tastes weird,” counters Chloe. Kate gloats to Daniel how his housewarming gift was a bust, since Chloe doesn’t like his apples.
Chloe gets defensive and agrees to just eat the damn thing. Kate invites Daniel and Chloe to go to the Java Café, discuss the show, and get Allie a treat. Chloe doesn’t think it would be too much fun for Allie, who soon comes running up to Kate and hugs her. Daniel has a meeting at the hospital, and Chloe told Lucas she’d be home early. He suggests getting together tomorrow, which doesn’t thrill Kate.
Java Café
Kate retrieves her recorder out of her purse and turns it on before Daniel and Chloe return to the table. She wonders where Allie is, and Chloe points that she’s at another table since she saw one of her friends from camp. Kate says she has a brilliant idea for an episode to do a segment on the two of them, remarking how they share so much airtime, so she believes the audience should know the truth about them. “What truth about them?” questions Lucas as he emerges. Kate reveals that they’re going to do a segment on Daniel and Chloe, recalling how Chloe had leukemia and went into remission, then later donated her bone marrow to Kate.
She refers to Daniel as the man who did it all. Lucas likes the idea and encourages Chloe to do it, and Daniel agrees. Chloe begins to feel ill.
Daniel proceeds to fetch Chloe some aspirin. Lucas notes that she looks a little pale, while Kate notes that her hands are clammy. Chloe claims it’s just a headache. Lucas encourages her to come home with him and Allie, but Kate states that they’re in the middle of a meeting. Chloe insists that she’s fine and just needs a little caffeine. “It’s just a headache, I’m not dying here!” she adds. Lucas encourages Chloe to relax, insisting that they’re just trying to help her. Chloe apologizes for being rude, but states that she’s not some delicate little flower and is fine. Lucas goes over and picks up Allie, noting how his little girl has had some ice cream close to dinnertime. Kate admits that she got Allie some ice cream, thinking she deserved a treat. Chloe recalls how Kate mentioned that Allie shouldn’t have an apple before dinner. Kate claims it’s ice cream, which is more fun and more difficult to resist. Chloe agrees to see Lucas and Allie later at home. Lucas and Chloe exchange “I love yous” before he leaves.
Kate is eager to get back to business, but it interrupted by a phone call from Chris. She urges Chris to make it work. After Kate leaves, Chloe refers to Kate as an obnoxious and demanding boss. Daniel offers to give Chloe a ride home, noting that she looks a little pale. Chloe stands up, then appears to feel faint. Daniel affirms that he’s taking her home and leads her out.

On the terrace, Kate edits her recording in order to implicate Daniel. She puts it back in her purse before apologizing to Lucas for him having to work tonight. She notes that he’s looking at his phone and wonders if he’s expecting a phone call. Lucas says he called Chloe to check on her, but deduces that she has her phone turned off. Kate wonders why he’s worried, as it’s not like Chloe’s never had a headache before. Lucas reminds his mom that Chloe has a history of medical problems. Thus, he has a right to be concerned about his own wife. Kate declares that she’s proud of him for being such a loving husband. Lucas assumes that she thinks he’s whipped and implores her to go ahead and say it. Kate denies thinking this and just hopes that Chloe realizes how lucky she is. Lucas frowns and believes he’s the lucky one, then accuses his mom of being disgusted or disappointed every time Chloe opens her mouth. “Aren’t I the one who gave her a job?” she reminds him. Lucas states that Chloe’s a singer. “A singer without a career,” remarks Kate. Lucas notes her nasty response, reminding his mom that Chloe was offered the lead in the opera in Vancouver. She believes it’s odd that Chloe would get a lead without an audition. Lucas declares that the conversation is over. He proceeds to call Chloe again and Kate puts on a fake concerned act.
Meanwhile, Daniel brings Chloe home and she begins to feel faint. Daniel feels her head and notes that she’s burning up. She collapses in his arms.
Maggie’s House
Maggie is getting her cleaning supplies ready for the cabin when Melanie comes home after shopping for a new bathing suit. Melanie still intends on helping out with the cabin, but wonders why Maggie’s going, since she has to take care of the restaurant and water her plants. Maggie implores Mel to cut to the chase. “Can you not go?” grimaces Melanie. Maggie wonders what Melanie is up to, then is quick to assume that Melanie wants to be alone with Nathan. Melanie says she doesn’t want Nathan there either, gushing how she has two friends whom she believes are perfect for one another. Maggie deduces that Melanie wants to play matchmaker and wonders what’s in it for her. Melanie doesn’t know what she needs to do in order to prove to Maggie that she’s going to be a better person. She believes Philip and Stephanie are starting to notice her nicer side and doesn’t want to think what could’ve happened if she didn’t find Steph at the morgue. Maggie declares how Melanie is “a work in progress,” which Melanie likes hearing.
Melanie tells the truth, in that she’s doing this to help her friends out, but is also doing this because she believes it might be good for her. She theorizes that if she sets her friends up, it would be good karma and she would find somebody, like someone who loves her for who she is. She asks if Maggie thinks it could ever happen. Maggie responds by hugging her.
