Ship Cruises From the USA to Spain

    Royal Caribbean

    • Royal Caribbean's 14-Night Transatlantic Eastbound Cruise originates in Galveston, Texas, setting sail on the Voyager of the Seas for Barcelona, Spain. Sailings are limited to once a year in the spring. The ship features a casino, nine-hole miniature golf course, day spa, ice skating rink and rock climbing wall for recreation as well as conference facilities for up to 400 people.

The total passenger capacity is over 3,000. Eight consecutive days at sea will find Ponta Delgada, Azores, as the first point of contact on European soil; to be followed by the first Spanish port, Malaga, on the 13th day, Cartagena on the 14th and finally, Barcelona. Forty-two different land excursions are offered at docking ports where passengers can partake of tours and sights of interest.

    Disney Cruises

    • The 14-Night Transatlantic Cruise Eastbound is offered once each spring by Disney Cruises. It embarks from Port Canaveral, Florida, makes a detour at Castaway Cay in the Bahamas, and then sails for six consecutive days until reaching Madeira, Portugal. Cadiz, Spain, and the UK's Gibraltar are also intermediate stops before at last arriving in Barcelona, Spain.

As this is Disney, you can be sure there will be entertainment in the form of sail-away deck celebrations with Disney characters, as well as live song and dance spectaculars in the evening. Kids can join the Disney Oceaneer Club, while parents indulge in spas, bars and restaurants.

Families can reunite to watch a Disney Digital 3-D movie aboard the ship's state-of-the-art theater. You have the option of extending your vacation with hotel packages before or after the cruise.

    Norwegian Cruise Lines

    • For those who like more options on the length of their transatlantic cruise to Spain, Norwegian Cruise Lines offers two Miami to Barcelona excursions on its ship, the Epic. There is an 11-day transatlantic, stopping at just Ponta Delgada en route to Barcelona; and an extension of this trip after Barcelona to additional ports in Marseille and Palma, Majorca, followed by a return to Barcelona with the 15-day transatlantic cruise.

This cruise is offered once per year in the spring. Entertainment options include Blue Man Group theater performances and Nickelodeon at Sea for the children. Amenities include Aqua Park, featuring a tube slide. Dining and drinking possibilities straddle French, Italian and Asian cuisines, with steak houses and whiskey bars.

    Holland America

    • Holland America offers a 15-day Spanish Crossing cruise that traverses the Atlantic from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Barcelona, Spain. The cruise is offered once a year in the spring. It sets sail on the MS Nieuw Amsterdam with seven consecutive days at sea until arriving at Funchal, Portugal.

Days 10 and 11 will see the port of Cadiz, Spain; followed by Cartagena and Valencia in Spain on the 13th and 14th day, respectively; and finally, Barcelona. Cabin options include interior to ocean-view to deluxe verandah suites. A variety of shore excursions are available en route and at the destination, lasting about four hours each.
