Goodbye To Diabetes And Hypertension

I think one of the worst things you could ever hear from your doctor is "I think you should start giving yourself an insulin injection. You will take 10 each night at bedtime". The first thing that goes through your mind is that you will be getting an injection each and every day, no exceptions! Not being excitexd about getting a shot at any time, this is a hard one to accept. The very next thing you hear is that you will be injecting into your stomach or your leg."What? Not me! I can't give myself a shot any where on my body". Guess what? You will do it or you might die.

OK, now you know it has to be done, so you resolve yourself to the fact that you have to inject each and every day. After the first few days it will become easier and soon giving an injection becomes second nature. As time goes by, your injections become larger and larger. What started out as 10 units of insulin has now been enlarged to 20, then 30 units, then 40 and now 50 units per day.

There is an alternative way to control your blood sugar. I found it quite by accident. I was out cutting wood for the winter months when I noticed that I was very irritated and shaking. There was a feeling of confusion. I slowly walked back to the house. When I got there, I first took my blood pressure which was up a little but not really high. I then checked my blood glucose level and found that it was very low. I had been warned that if I ever had a very low reading, drink orange juice. I did.

When I related my story to my doctor, I was told that exercise would help lower my blood glucose level. Now, I hate to exercise, so I looked for a different way to get exercise. I found that walking around my neighborhood was something that I had not done in years but it was really nice talking to my neighbors. While my wife was shopping, I would walk around the store and look at different items or just walk around the mall. I continued to chop wood and stack it. I enjoy shooting hoops with the grandson. I even pitched horse shoes. Anything that let me move my body.

. The results were amazing.

The first month, I found that I had lost ten pounds. When checking my blood sugar, it had dropped nearly twelve points on the average. This was encouraging! But the story doesn't stop here by any means. After six months, my cholesterol was normal with the good chloresterol and the bad chloresterol being balanced as it should be. My blood sugar count had dropped far enough that insulin was no longer needed and my diabetes was being controlled with pills. At this point in my life I feel good, look good, and have good blood pressure. I still take a pill for my diabetes, but I am working hard on getting rid of that crutch.
