- 1). Fill the spray bottle with clean tap water.
- 2). Spray your hair until it is damp using the spray bottle.
- 3). Comb your hair starting at the top of the hair and moving down to the ends. Make sure to get rid of any tangles.
- 4). Using a leave-in conditioner designed for African American hair, mist your hair lightly.
- 5). Divide your hair into about 14-16 sections using hair pins. Pin these sections at the base of the neck.
- 6). Unclip one section of hair at a time and braid it into a tight braid. Secure the braid at the end with a hair elastic.
- 7). Braid each section of hair until all of the hair is braided.
- 8). Leave the braids in for about 8 hours. It is easiest to sleep in the braids so that they have plenty of time to dry naturally.
- 9). In the morning, take the hair elastics out of your hair and tousle hair with your hands to untwist it and allow it to fall into waves.

Spray a small amount of strong or medium hold hair spray over your waves to hold them in place.
