- 1). Remove all bedding from your dog's kennel and wash it on a normal setting using hot water.
- 2). Spray around and inside of the kennel with a flea- and tick-area spray. Adams Flea & Tick Yard Spray is an excellent choice. Other flea- and tick-area sprays are available under Resources. The Adams spray (and others like it) will kill and keep away fleas, ticks, flea eggs and larvae. Once sprayed, let it dry.
- 3). Use Frontline (or a similar product) on your dog to keep the ticks from getting back into the kennel. To apply Frontline to your dog, take one packet, squirt it directly onto your dog's skin between its shoulder blades (if you have a large dog, you should put half of the packet between the shoulder blades and half right above the tail), moving any hair in the way and rubbing in the ointment. The Frontline will stay wet for a day or two.
