Sports Scholarships for High School Seniors

Parents tend to judge their children quickly for not focusing on their school subjects because of the time they spare for leisure activities, such as sports.
This stems from the fact that scholarships, grants and awards given to senior high school students that are based on academic performance and financial need are known to many people.
What is known less is scholarships or grants given to seniors based on their success in sports.
Although many people either are not informed about them, or they overlook these scholarship programs, there is a wide diversity of grants available to high school seniors if they have been successful in sports.
Grants vary from field to field, but it is possible to find financial help for almost all kinds of sports activities a student has taken part in.
Of course, the chances are increased if the student has done a more professional job.
One of the highly competitive scholarships that falls under this category is the American Legion Baseball Scholarship.
To be eligible for this scholarship, candidates should be part of a team affiliated with an American Legion Post and be able to provide references.
There are other baseball scholarships for high school seniors as well.
Some examples include the Dixie Boys Baseball Scholarship Program and the Dixie Youth Scholarship Program.
Both of these programs target students excelled at baseball, and those who have also financial need.
A strong academic background would of course be an asset.
Other than baseball scholarships, those high school seniors who are actively involved in harness racing can seek grants from The Harness Tracks of America Scholarship Fund.
Talented bowlers get paid as well.
The United States Bowling Congress offers a variety of scholarships to bowlers.
Some prominent schemes include The Annual Zeb Scholarship, Chuck Hall Star of Tomorrow andEarl Anthony Memorial Scholarships.
Seniors can also be chosen to Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team and win a $1,000 scholarship.
There are also grants available only to high school senior girls.
Women's Western Golf Foundation and United States Bowling Congress Alberta E.
Crowe Star of Tomorrow Scholarship are two examples.
Women's Western Golf Foundation does not require you to be the best golf player in the world, being involved in golf is among the eligibility criteria however.
The amount one might get is $2,000.
With the USBC Award, on the other hand, it is possible to get a funding as high as $6,000.
It is also important to check whether scholarships are granted to those planning a career in sports or not.
Some grants only look for a background in a specific field of sports, while some require you to see it as your profession.
Meeting this criterion might play the decisive role.
