1. Using the Internet you can find your tax return status.
The website IRS.gov has a link on the right sidebar of the page titled "Where's My Refund" (en Espanol en la parte superior de la página). This is the fastest way to check your refund status. You can even use this if your refund money is in route for different locations. This is available all the time,. it's fast and safe.

2. The Best Time To Look for your refund status.
If your taxes are done via the internet, the information about your refund will be accessible seventy-two hours after the IRS has confirmed that they have received your tax information. If you send it in the mail, it will take about a month for them to verify that it is active in their system.

3. The Information You Will Need When On the IRS Website
Make sure to have these three things on hand when you look up your refund status:
•    Your Social Security Number (SSN) or Tax Identification Number (TIN)
•    Your Filing Status
•    The precise refund amount of your tax return.

4. After Your Information Is Entered
Next, the IRS.gov website will provide to you the following information:
•    If the return is being routed
•    When you can expect it to arrive at your bank or in your mailbox

8. IRS2Go Application
The IRS has it's own Smart Phone Application now. This will allow the taxpayer to check on their refund status using a cellular phone. The Apple iPhone and the Android phone have this application available for free.
