- When cutting long sections of vinyl siding use a circular saw or a table saw. A table saw is best for unskilled installers because it provides a safer platform for cutting. The table saw will also provide a fence next to the blade to brace the piece of siding against as it is being cut. This will ensure that you cut a straight line all the way across the piece of siding.
- The most appropriate saw blade for vinyl siding is a fine-toothed wood-cutting blade. The teeth are small and spaced closely together, whereas a rip blade will have large teeth spaced farther apart. The key to a smooth cut is to actually reverse the blade, or put it on the saw backwards. The same applies to a circular saw.
- Tin snips are good for cutting smaller pieces of vinyl siding. For the best results, use long-bladed tin snips to cut the siding for length, or cutting off the ends.
