One excellent way to earn money is doing email marketing. When you email for income you should know a few of the basic rules to follow.

First of all there is no spam allowed. Only send email messages sent to people who your want information. Opt-in emails are generally only sent to people who specifically requested them.

Opt-in emails are often personal, targeted, and provide specific information about promotions or issues that people are interested in learning about. Most emails provide product information, newsletters, useful articles and advice, or include special promotional offers.

Should you require double opt-in or single opt-in from your subscriber? A single opt-in subscriber only requires your website visitor to complete the sign-up form. A double opt-in occurs when you also ask the subscriber to go to their inbox and click on a link provided by your autoresponder.

Doing this requires an extra step. I do not think this is neccessary, but your list will be a little stronger if it is double opt-in. The downside is you will not get as many subscribers. It definetly hurts your conversion rate.

Here are a few more opt-in email tips.

1. It is a good idea to advertise in other people's ezines or to their mailing list when you first start out. This gives you access to many people you will not reach when you have no list of your own.

2. A fast way to build a list is buying co-registration leads. However, these people do not know you personally, so you ned to work hard at getting to know them.

3. Do not over mail. There is a fine line between ignoring your subscribers and emailing them to much.

At first you are going to provide useful information and are not trying to sell anything. So, you can send 2-3 emails a week and not see people unsubscribing from your list.

After time you can start promoting to your subscribers. 1-2 emails a week is plenty as long as you have something worthwhile that relates to the theme of your email campaigns.

4. Build multiple niche lists. Most succesful Internet marketers do multiple niche marketing.

Be sure and build a email opt in list on every website you have. This lets you make more money on every niche email you send out. If you are using a blog as a website just add a sign up form to your side bar.
