The first step: Filtering The Noise.
With the multitude of dieting information entering the scene month by
month online and in magazines, discovering diets that work and choosing the best diet for your goals will likely be a very arduous exercise indeed.
It comes as no shock that there are such a number of diet and health options out there; As consumers we spend about $40 billion on fat loss, health and dieting goods & services each year.
Unfortunately for most people, this is precisely where the diet confusion begins, with hype much of the time winning out over real-world results. This may set genuine would-be dieters up for failure before they even begin.
I would like to put to rest the misconceptions and help you on the path to discovering the real diets that work.
Fashionable diets (or fad diets) are very recognizable and in my experience as a health and dieting consultant are best avoided.
Fad diets usually begin their rise to popularity through either industry diet "gurus" or the usual celebrities making claims of a diet discovery that has seen them substantially reduce body size, become significantly healthier, or even lose a sizable amount of fat in a very short space of time. You most probably will have heard of these types of diets on a regular basis, usually hyped in weekly gossip magazines and often appearing on television talk shows - occasionally even in broadcast news.
As someone who works day to day in nutrition and diet industry, I'm going to let you in on Hollywood's well kept dieting secret and let you know why the first step in choosing the diets that work is to avoid the hype!
With ten years as a private health & nutrition
adviser working with many known recognizable names, I have observed first hand the vast amount of individual and team work that goes into successful celebrity weight loss and fitness. - Not to forget the thousands of dollars celebs are willing to put towards
the experts to get it working straight away.
More often than not when a high profile individual is undertaking a diet in lieu of a major movie role or awards showcase, they'll seek the advice of professionals, are given tailored and time-proven diet regimes (the diets that work), and will of course pay a lofty price for the service!
Then come the profiteers....
The fad diets that celebrities then endorse after visibly 'noteworthy' results are the majority of the time not much more than sponsorship deals and face-to-product contracts made via management agents and conglomerate advertisers. result, another celebrity diet is given all the credit and hyped as the 'diet of the year'.
The same way many of us may have doubted that top model Rachel Hunter was actually using supermarket grade conditioner on a daily basis back in the 1990s, it's in my experience that hype and fad diets are not at all causing stars to look extraordinary in photo shoots and on red carpets!
Now that we can recognize and avoid the diets that hardly ever work, how do we find the diets that will? Part 2 in this article will have you identifying the real diets that work and which ones can work for you.
