- 1). Soak up any excess urine or liquid from the area your cat sprayed as soon as possible. If your cat has a spraying problem, keep a close watch on it as much as possible so you can clean any sprayed areas immediately.
- 2). Mix 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture over the soiled area and allow it to air dry. The vinegar helps neutralize the smell.
- 3). Wash walls and baseboards with warm soapy water after the vinegar mixture dries. Use a regular carpet cleaner to clean soiled carpets and rugs.
- 4). Purchase an enzyme-based cleaner manufactured specifically for pet odors online or from a pet supply store. These cleaners contain enzymes to neutralize pet odors and help prevent animals from soiling the same spot again. Follow the directions on the bottle.
