Sales Rep Jobs and App Sales

First understand we are speaking about independent sales contractors. You will sign an agreement to represent a company to do media and/or app sales products. You work on your own time (independently) and use your assertiveness, personal talents, product knowledge (after product training) and sales techniques added to the sales tools and brochures supplied from the corporate office. You do not pay for product training. You are contracted for sales and commissioned on sales you bring in. Some companies will offer a small stipend and a lower commission. Others offer straight commission.

General Remarks

For Sales Rep Jobs, look at the qualifications the position requires. Do you meet their posted criteria in a career sales job? Take a look at the company. What type of support do they give the sales rep.  Are you able to sell more than one product in their line or multiple products? Can you train for one or are all thrown at you. What does their online and mobile presence look like? What is the contracting process? Do you have to travel?  Will you require transportation. Are there a set of tools to bring your prospect to the web and illustrate the product. Can you do a great deal from your home office?

What Are The Steps In Contracting

§          There is a review process – what do you bring to the career – sometimes this can be 3 interviews by phone, Skype, in person, etc.

§          Some companies require you to be bonded to handle funds

§          Agreements Are Signed with a territory outlined

§          The training is completed and Questions asked

§          Clear on reporting progress

§          Clear on paperwork and presentation materials

§          Clear on contracting your prospect

A quality corporate office requests you take specific classes or training to sell their product. They teach you where to find the leads, pre-qualify the prospective client, how to set appointments and complete the sale.  Some companies teach you product, and industry disciplines and sales techniques in a classroom setting or on-line (at your computer) in webinars.

Are You Qualified To Take On An Independent Sales Position?

It is not always about whether you know how to do sales or your ability to contact and get the sale generated, but has a great deal to do with excitement regarding the product, or what interrupts your day, your organization and your ability to set up a home office with internet, two phones, e-mail and privacy from your family. It is strongly influenced by your record keeping, calendar notes, client notes, your ability to follow up on schedule with clients and take rejection from those you took the time to contact… and with internet based sales advertising jobs, what you will need to know:

§          Basic knowledge regarding the internet and how a product supports the client's needs.

§          Some Social media involvement to let others know what you are doing

§          Ability to speak to the person in language they understand

§          How to present a power point to a group and answer product questions

How Social Are You?

Asking yourself this question may be very revealing. Many of us must have people around us all day to relate to. If so, then find a sales job in an office environment – or seek a position where you do your sales outside the home. Network and make appointments to meet business owners.

How Disciplined Are You?

Understand your avoidance patterns. After four or five phone calls, do you walk to the refrigerator, find some entertainment or write an email to a friend? Like a productive farmer with persistence and patience, you understand that you must:

§          Plant the seeds, (find the right person to give the information to).

§          Create a good watering system, (relationship) and

§          Follow-up to get rid of the weeds, (the competition)

§          Finally produce a crop, (the sale).

§          Harvest with (a check)

With sales, this can mean today or three months or more. Personal habits can reflect on your ability to make a sale when working from home.

Some people are driven by the dollar and stop their exercise for one more sales call while others stop at every opportunity to take in food or drink. Your schedule is what it is all about when you are an independent contractor.

§          Take the responsibility to examine your habits prior to your commitment to a company.

Sifting Through The Jobs Available

While most independent sales jobs do not forward any capital or stipend to their sales force, there are many on-line companies that want you to buy their instructional text -- it will "teach you how" to sell. This is wrong. Your product training should be free.
  • Commissioned sales should go directly back to you. It is your relationship and your sale.
  • Before agreeing to do the sales, fully understand how and when you receive commissions. Quarterly does not do it. Two Weeks or One Month
  • Understand by doing the math, what the earning value is for a sale and how many sales you will need to make the income you desire. High-end sales often extend a 10% to 15% commission while lower priced sales will offer 20% to 30%.
