- 1). Insert the black-and-white RCA jacks into the sockets in the back of your cassette deck. Plug the mini-jack of the RCA cable into the line-in socket in the back of your computer, or the headphone socket if using a laptop computer.
- 2). Click on the icon in your task bar to open your music-recording program. This is software that can be used for recording, include Cakewalk, Audacity, and FL Studio. Be aware that each software program will differ slightly in its setup and track recording methods.
- 3). Insert a tape into your cassette deck and press "Play." Adjust the volume on the music program so that the recording level doesn't exceed the maximum level set by the gauge on the program.
- 4). Press "Rewind" on your tape deck when the levels are set. Press "Record" on the music software and press "Play" when your tape has rewound to the start. Save the recorded tape to your desktop.
- 5). Click on your disc-burning software's icon, like iTunes or Windows Media Player, to open it. Click and drag the recorded tape file into your open program. Select "File" from the top of your program's screen, then "New Playlist" from the drop-down menu. Create and type a name for your new playlist and drag the tape file into it.
- 6). Insert a blank CD-R into your computer's disc drive. Click on "Burn Disc" in your disc-burning software. Eject the CD-R when it has finished burning and insert it into a CD player. Press "Play" on the CD player.
