Scholarship is a form of a financial aid provided for further or ongoing studies by different organizations depending on the particular criteria which has to be fulfilled by both the donor and the receiver.
The most common scholarships can be classified as Merit based, Need based, Student specific and Career specific.
Merit based scholarships are provided to all the merit students who fulfill all the required possibilities, Ned based scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial status of the student and family which also has some definitive criteria, Student specific scholarships are based on race, gender, religion, family and medical history or other student related factors Minority scholarships comes under these category, Career specific Scholarships are provided by the college or universities to students pursuing a definite study course.
Minority scholarships are provided generally by governments, colleges, universities and some of the charity organizations and non government organizations which are in the fields of social service.
The objective behind providing these scholarships is to provide "financial aid to the entire meritorious student of minority communities who are intelligent so that they can pursue higher education and technical education to get in the main stream of economy".
These communities are called as minorities because the development never reached their doors due to many factors.
This lead to economical in distribution they remain underdeveloped and poor as they were not having any access to education, now these scholarships are provided to the students from such communities who could seek the required education so that they can at least enter the main stream of economy which ultimately will help in development of that specific community.
These scholarships are mostly limited to the geographical limits, if someone has to go beyond that then there are regular scholarships available for such purposes.
These scholarships are offered right from the starting period of the education like from school level to the graduation and post graduation level.
Higher scholarships are also awarded to these minority students when they are eligible for pursuing professional courses like Doctor, Engineer and Lawyer etc.
These scholarships are only meant for development of particular community and no one intends to put forth the racial or communal discrimination.
There are some of the NGO's and Social welfare institutions which offer Minority Scholarships by setting funds for such purposes.
Sometime these scholarships also include the hostel facilities which are provided to these students free of cost by the colleges and the universities.
All these scholarships are also dependent on satisfactory progress and conduct of the scholar if any problem persists with the scholar then the donor has the authority to withhold the scholarship until the issue has been resolved.
There are many such instances where the non minority student gains these scholarships by fibbing that they belong to such communities, if such cases are found and proved then the future actions and implications are solely dependent on the scholarship providing bodies.
The Minority Scholarships are not limited to a specific region or country they are offered worldwide to empower these backward communities and to bring them in the main flow of the country.
The aim of these scholarships is to eradicate illiteracy and provide chances to these communities for development and there are no intentions of division of people based on communities.
