I think we can all agree that the worst feeling ever is when you find out you paid too much for something. I recently bought a used Submariner for $10,000. You have no idea how excited I was to own one of these beauties. I felt awesome. Two days later, that excitement literally vanished into thin air. I found the same exact watch on Craigslist…for $6,000. I was speechless and quite honestly, I felt awfully stupid. I may as well have just lit that $4,000 on fire. With the economy the way it is, we all want to save as much money as we can. Whether it's for our children's education or to buy our spouses the best Valentine's gift, saving money can really come in handy. What most people don't know is that changing even the littlest things in your life can save you a significant amount of money. Start saving today and build for your future! Here are my 10 RANDOM WAYS TO SAVE MONEY:
1. Shop at Nordstrom (I'm sure the ladies love this one)
You get the best bang for your buck. Even though it may seem expensive, you're saving money in the long term. They have the best quality clothing so chances are you won't even need to go shopping again anytime soon!
2. Eat Breakfast
Studies show that people who eat a good breakfast tend to eat a light lunch and dinner. This means you poop less! Every time you flush the toilet 1.7 gallons of water are used. Water is expensive so poop less and you'll save your wallet.
3. Floss
Avoiding root canals, cavity repair, and gum disease treatment will save you a ton of money and more importantly, a ton of pain. Believe it or not, one root canal can cost over $1,500. Trust me, I learned the hard way. Start flossing!
4. Don't speed
Keep the cops off your tail and you'll save yourself hundreds of dollars. Not to mention it is highly cost efficient to drive the speed limit considering how awfully expensive gas prices can be. Buckle up and drive safe!
5. Get FasTrak
Traffic sucks. Did you know you waste hundreds of hours every year just waiting hopelessly on the freeway? Not anymore! FasTrak allows you to drive in the express lane and avoid traffic. Not to mention saving you hundreds of dollars a year and many trips to the gas station.
6. Use ice trays
Your refrigerator's ice machine uses tons of energy. If you want to save money you must save energy. Instead of using refrigerator's ice machine to make ice, freeze your drinking water in plastic ice trays. You can get them pretty much anywhere for under $2! Remember, energy = money.
7. Quit smoking
Cigarettes are ridiculously expensive. Treatment for the consequences associated with smoking can also cost you hundreds and thousands of dollars. You can save over $10,000 a year if you quit today. More importantly, you can save your life!
8. Turn. Your. Lights. Off.
I'm sure you've heard this a countless number of times from your parents. But seriously, if it's daytime you really don't need your lights! Electricity is a huge cost so by minimizing the amount of time the lights in your house are on, you can literally save hundreds of dollars a year. And the cool thing is it's EASY. By pushing that light switch you can literally save over $20/hour.
9. Use Groupon
Groupon is the best app to use if you want to save money. Whether you're looking for a foot massage specialist or a Jamba Juice gift card, Groupon will help you get a discount.
10. Make homemade ice cream
It's extremely easy, fun, and most importantly…delicious. Ice cream for the kids can cost you a bunch so why not make it at home!
