- 1). Ask your lawyer for the start date, if you are a plaintiff or defendant in the criminal case. As soon as the judge gives your lawyer the trial date, you should be notified.
- 2). Call the courthouse and ask the clerk for the trial date. You will need to know either the case number or the names of the parties involved.
- 3). Sign up for an account on the Pacer.gov site (see Resources) to search public court records to find out of the trial has started. Viewing pages on the site does incur a fee, which varies. Alternatively, you can search for the case on your state court's website, such as the Washington State Courts website (see Resources).
- 4). Watch the media for notification, especially if the case has a lot of public interest.
