- 1). Lift the platform end of the ramp up with one hand.
- 2). Lift the brace up underneath the platform end of the ramp. Insert the brace into one of the grooves underneath the ramp end of the platform to lock it in place. These grooves control the height of the dog ramp.
- 3). Push the ramp next to your bed. Check the ramp height vs. the bed height. Many beds require a ramp height of 24 inches. If the ramp height is too short or tall, you must adjust it.
- 4). Insert the brace into another groove to adjust the height.
- 5). Adjust the slope of the ramp by inserting its bottom end into the appropriate groove. Many adjustable pet ramps have a groove marked as easy, normal and steep, or by the degree of the incline. The easy, or 18-degree, incline must be set for dogs that are disabled, elderly, or suffer from achy muscles or limb weakness. The normal, or 22-degree, incline should be set for dogs with moderate physical impairments. The steep, or 26-degree, incline is best for smaller dogs that have trouble accessing the bed but don't have any physical impairments.
