How to Begin Breeding a Siamese

    • 1). Register your female cat with the CFA, if you haven't done so already. The CFA accepts only pedigree cats, and you must know the history or lineage of your Siamese cat. Kittens with CFA registered parents are worth more money than those with an unknown lineage.

    • 2). Make an appointment with your veterinarian for a checkup and examination. You cannot breed cats with certain defects. The doctor will determine the health of the cat, ensure that she is up to date on shots and vaccinations and let you know if she is ready to breed.

    • 3). Find a suitable mate for the Siamese. Siamese cats have more than 20 recognized colorings, including lilac, chocolate and blue. Look for male cats that have similar colorings and have a pedigree background. Advertise for a mate in your local newspaper, online and in cat magazines.

    • 4). Watch your Siamese for signs that she is in heat. When a female cat is in heat, she becomes more vocal and affectionate and may appear to walk oddly. You will also notice that male cats begin appearing in your yard, because they are attracted to the scent she produces.

    • 5). Contact the owner of the male cat as soon as your female goes into heat. Arrange a meeting for the two cats. Keep the two confined in a single room, and keep an eye on them. If the male impregnates the female, she will have kittens in about 65 days.

    • 6). Feed kitten food to your cat during the pregnancy; this food contains the vitamins and nutrients that the babies need. Take the cat to the veterinarian to ensure that she is pregnant and that she remains healthy throughout the pregnancy.
