- 1). Set up the saw mill track. Different band saw mills have different designs, but they all have a track on which the wood is secured for the band saw to pass over.
- 2). Place the saw on the starting end of the mill track with the cutting edge of the blades facing the other end.
- 3). Set the wood in the mill and secure it in place by tightening the built-in vices.
- 4). Check the fuel level of the saw. If the fuel is low, fill the tank but do not overfill it.
- 5). Adjust the cutting height of the saw blade and secure it in place.
- 6). Start the saw. Keep away from the blade and any moving parts during operation.
- 7). Unlock any wheel brakes on the band saw, grip the pushing handles and push the saw forward on the mill track. Push slowly and evenly so the blade is aligned with the two saw wheels. If the blade moves backward past the center line, you are pushing too hard. Continue until the log is sawed through.
- 8). Remove the cut plank from the wood.
- 9). Turn off the saw.
- 10
Push the saw back to the beginning of the mill track. - 11
Adjust the blade height so that it will cut lower into the wood to produce the next board and secure it in place. Turn on the saw, pass it through the wood, remove the board and turn off the saw. Continue in this fashion until the wood is completely sawed into boards.
