How Does Acupressure Help Sinuses?

    How it Works

    • Acupressure is based on the same principles of acupuncture, without using needles. By pressing on particular points of the body, you can release congested or blocked energy (chi). According to ancient Chinese medicine, energy naturally follows meridian pathways along our body. When these pathways become blocked, disease and discomfort take place. Sinus congestion or sinus headaches can be caused by a meridian pathway blockage. By manipulating certain points on the body, the sinus condition can be relieved.

    How it is Performed

    • Pressure points relating to the sinus area are massaged in a circular motion with a medium amount of pressure. It is most important for the patient to be in a relaxed position--standing, sitting or lying down. If instructions are followed, it is easy and safe to perform on yourself or another person. Most important, there are no side effects as with drugs and it can be done anytime, anywhere.

    Procedures

    • There are several different pressure points, each relieving different sinus condition symptoms.

Drilling Bamboo: Relieves sinus headache, sinus pain, red, blurry eyes, eye strain and hay fever. The pressure points are in the indentations of the inner eye sockets. Find the point where the eyebrow ridge meets the nose bridge.

Welcoming Perfume: Relieves nasal congestion, sinus headache and facial swelling and paralysis. The pressure points are just to the side of the nose, above the nostril flare-out of the outer nose.

Facial Beauty: Relieves head congestion, stuffy nose, toothache, burning eyes and eye fatigue. The pressure points are at the cheekbone bottom, straight down from the pupils of the eyes.

Heavenly Pillar: Relieves stress, burnout, hay fever, stiff neck, swollen eyes, sore throat and head congestion. The pressure points are at the back of the neck, 1 inch down from the skull base. Go in 1 inch from the spine on each side, right on the vertical muscles.

Joining the Valley: Relieves sinus pain and headaches, head congestion and hay fever. The pressure points are in the webbed area between the thumb and index finger. Feel for the edge of the muscle.

Third Eye Point: Relieves sinus congestion, eye strain, headaches and hay fever. The pressure point is directly between the eyebrows at the top of the nose bridge.
