Before the summer ended, I realized I'd been promising my kids for more than a month that I'd build a kids picnic table.
It was one of those projects I didn't want to let go until the spring because I knew my kids would enjoy a kids picnic table right up until the first snowfall.
And perhaps they'd even find ways to have fun with it during the fall and winter.
After rummaging through my tool box, I found the kids picnic table plans I had purchased months ago and decided to keep the promise I had made to my kids -- and to my wife -- by building the table.
As a family, we enjoy spending a lot of time together outdoors.
I figured that building a picnic table for my son and daughter would be a great way for them to enjoy our backyard and have fun with each other and with their little friends.
They could use the table to play games on outside as wall as eat their lunch.
The plans had been sitting in my toolbox, wrinkled and unused.
I realized we still had at least two months of reasonable weather ahead and I would build an outdoor table for my kids that weekend.
My kids picnic table plans included a materials list.
So I did a quick price calculation in my head and determined this would be a reasonably priced, worthwhile project to tackle.
Early the following Saturday morning, I picked up all the materials from the lumber yard and started building as soon as I got home.
While I figured the job would go easily, I was pleasantly surprised how smoothly the pieces came together.
I'm sure the kids picnic table plans had everything to do with the ease of construction.
I was certainly glad I located the plans on the Internet and decided to get them.
My kids were right there with me throughout the project and they were eager to help as much as they could.
It was a good learning experience for them to see how something can start as a stack of lumber and wind up as an outdoor table for kids to use.
The kids were really happy when I finally gave them their table for picnics.
Moments after I completed the project, they were busy planning a picnic for the next day.
The entire project and the final result were a great hit.
Believe me when I tell you, if you want to build something your entire family can share and enjoy for all sorts of reasons, then please consider getting a good set of plans and building your own kids picnic table.
