- 1). Click "Start" on the PC's desktop, then "All Programs" and "Mozilla Thunderbird."
- 2). Click the Tools menu at the top of the Thunderbird window and click "Options" in the drop-down menu.
- 3). Click the "Advanced" tab, "Network & Disk Space" and "Disk Space."
- 4). Click the check box next to "Compact folder when it will save over 100 KB." Click the up arrow to increase the size of the folder compression.
- 5). Click "OK" to save the disk space settings. Click the File menu at the top of the Thunderbird window and click "Compact Folders."
