There are many dermatology research grants available. State and federal governments, as well as corporate and private organizations, offer grants for dermatology research. Researchers must follow the application guidelines, knowing funding can be competitive. - The Dermatology Foundation offers grants to support the study of dermatology and cutaneous biology. To be eligible the research must be conducted in the U.S. under a division or department of dermatology. Applicants should submit a proposal for research, including project goals and budget. Applications are accepted in October.
- The Society for Pediatric Dermatology offers the William Weston Research Award supporting research investigating pediatric dermatology. Funding of up to $20,000 is awarded, with preference given to young researchers and members of the Society. Applicants should submit a proposal outlining study details, budget and a support letter from department or division chairperson or supervisor. Applications are accepted in April.
- The Foundation for Osteopathic Dermatology provides several grants for students and experienced researchers. Grants of up to $1,000 are offered annually to researchers investigating osteopathic dermatology. Applicants must conduct research at an accredited institution. Applications are accepted June-August.
- The National Rosacea Society offers grants of $10,000 to $25,000 to researchers studying the dermatological condition of rosacea. Funds are available to researchers worldwide. Applications are due in November.
- The American Skin Association offers grants of $15,000 to researchers investigating melanoma, skin cancer, psoriasis/inflammatory diseases, vitiligo/pigment cell biology and childhood skin diseases. Applicants are required to submit a proposal detailing the study design, budget and letters of support from the department and a mentor. Applications are due in August.
