- 1). Decide on the length you want your whistle necklace to be. Measure and cut three equal-sized pieces of yarn that are each three times that length.
- 2). Align the three strands of yarn. Tie a single knot approximately 1-inch below the top of each strand.
- 3). Cut a strip of duct tape. Stick the duck tape over the yarn knot and affix the yarn to a table.
- 4). Separate the strands so that they are positioned vertically parallel next to one another on the table.
- 5). Lift the strand of yarn on the left and cross it over the middle strand. Hold this in place by pinching the two strands lightly, in one hand. Lift the strand of yarn on the right over the middle position, replacing your finger on top of it as well, to keep it in place. Holding the third stand steady against the other two crossed over stands, bring it around where the first strand started. Continue this process until you have braided to your desired length.
- 6). Secure the end of the braid with a double knot. Cut off any excess yarn after the knot with the scissors.
- 7). Cut a 3-inch piece of yarn. Insert it through the hole in the bottom of the whistle. Tie the ends of the yarn together in a double knot to form a loop. Insert the loop and whistle onto the braided necklace.
