Introduction
- Provision of termite proofing and chemical barrier against termite infiltration into the building and ensure subterranean termite control.
- Excavation and back-filling required for injection of anti-termite chemicals
- Back-filling and compaction of excavated areas upon completion of construction and /or installation of underground services
- Protection measures consisting of materials, constructions and methods to save persons from harm and property from damage resulting from work performed by the above mentioned activities.

The Contractor shall submit the following:
- Method statement and shop drawings for full treatment systems including complete details of subterranean treatment including pre-construction treatment Horizontal barriers, Vertical Barriers.
- Reports specified under Field Quality control and necessary certificates from manufactures and municipal authorities.
- Guarantee: On completion of Treatment all in respects, The Pest control Contractor shall provide a certificate of Guarantee that the treated areas are safe from Subterranean termite attack and infection for at least twenty years.
Disaffection solutions shall be stored as per the manufactures and applicators instructions to prevent contamination and any hazards arising from the misuse of treatment chemicals.
Products
Materials shall be from one of the following or as approved by local Authorities:
- DURSBAN 4 TC (CHLOROPYRIFOS 45.2%W/W active ingredient) from DOW ELANCO-UK
- DEMON TC (CYPERMETHRIN)250 g/lit active ingredient from ZENERCA PUBLIC HEALTH - UK
- BIFLEX-TC (BIFEN TINRIN-METHYL-DIMETHYL) 25.1% active ingredient. Termiticide- FMC Corporation USA
Execution
The contractor shall ensure that the the Termiticide emulsion is supplied in sealed containers and diluted as recommended by manufacturer. Contractor shall verify and conform to appropriate methods for handling, disposal, storage and transportation. Extent of treatement areas shall be verified and established.
The contractor should make sure that site is ready to receive treatment as per the manufacturer's instructions before works commencement.
The contractor should ensure protection to all works and persons on site and provide all necessary facilities and aid for this purpose. Adequate vapour barrier should be available and provide after application
Application
a) Horizontal Barriers (Concentration as recommended by manufacturer)
Treatment shall start after leveling/compaction of the filled soil and before blinding and concreting. The termiticide emulsion shall be applied with a low pressure spray at a rate of 4liters per square meter on fine sand and 6liter per square meter on coarse gravel or as recommend by manufacturers.
The soil around utility pipe openings, drains, electricalconduit entry points shall be drenched thoroughly with the termiticide density equal twice the normal concentration.
a) Vertical Barriers
After the final leveling/compaction of the external perimeter and before the installation of plinth protection a trench shall be prepared for at least 30cm depth around the building and drenched thoroughly with the termiticide at a rate of 4liters per linear meter.
Precautions
Precautions shall be taken not to disturb the treated areas be re-leveling, digging or earth filling, as this will break the chemical barrier. In case of such situation arises, the area is to be treated again to restore the chemical barrier. Only Qualified and experienced staff and holder of Municipality ID card will conduct the operation/ application taking into consideration all safety measures in providing protective masks and ancillaries.
