- 1). Log on to the official OSHA website at osha.gov.
- 2). View OSHA's injury, illness and fatality statistics by clicking on the "Statistics" button in the box on the right side the page.
- 3). Click the link labeled "Workplace Injury, Illness and Fatality Statistics" to review OSHA's detailed reports on injury and illness sorted by industry and state. You can also read weekly fatality reports and demographic studies.
- 4). Search OSHA's safety records by establishment by clicking the link labeled "Establishment Search" and entering the name of the establishment you would like to research.
- 5). Search OSHA's safety records by industry by clicking on the link labeled "Search Inspections by SIC" and entering the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code or the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code to find safety records for the specific industry you wish to research. You can find SIC code and NAICS code information by clicking on the link labeled "SIC manual" and "NAICS manual" under the "Search Inspections by SIC" link.
- 6). Search OSHA accident investigation reports by clicking on the link labeled "Accident Investigation Search" and entering keywords or descriptions to refine your search.
- 7). Request any other information not located on the website by sending OSHA a written request under the Freedom of Information Act. Go to the OSHA homepage and click the link labeled "Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)" for detailed instructions regarding which office to mail your request to.
