- 1). Call your local police department. If there is a temporary restraining order through municipal court, the police department can tell you if it has one on file. Officers will also want to be informed of your current address so they may serve you.
- 2). Ask your county sheriff's department. Civil restraining orders are typically issued through the common pleas court and served on the respondent through the sheriff's department.
- 3). Contact the clerk's office at the courthouse. If you do not want to call the police or the sheriff, the clerk is also privy to this information. You can also visit the court house to search its docket as well.
