Does it seem like everyone you talk to is already working with someone?Don't let yourself get caught up in that self-limiting thinking.
Everyone isn't working with someone.
In fact, there are 68 million Americans who don't have life insurance as you read this article.
So statistically you are working in a world of vast abundance.
Changing this mind set is significant in its impact on the actions you take.
If it seems like everyone you're talking to is working with someone already, there is an important lesson to learn here.
You're simply talking to the wrong people.
Sit down and describe the people you're talking to now in as much detail as you possibly can in terms of: where they live, how they earn a living, what they're interested in, what they talk about, what they read or listen to, etc.
As you do that you're developing a better understanding of the demographics and psychographics of the people you're currently trying to market to.
Does it make sense to change your focus to another market?A market that isn't so highly sought after by your peers.
Did you know some of the wealthiest people are just your average blue collar workers living in older neighborhoods? All too often everyone wants to focus on doctors and attorneys because they think that's where the money is.
Sometimes that's true and sometimes it's not because those doctors and attorneys are living beyond their means and don't have the cash to do business with you.
Think about it this way if you had to hunt to feed your family and keep your family from starving to death, and all your peers were hunting deer would you want to hunt deer too?No, the deer are over hunted.
Because the deer are so over hunted they've learned to hide deeper in the woods, and they've become even more fearful of the scent of man.
You and your family could easily starve to death trying to hunt deer.
Yet all the while your peers are chasing after the now scarce deer there are rabbits everywhere.
And because the rabbits are completely ignored by the other hunters they're not only plentiful they're almost tame.
If you changed your focus to rabbits you and your family could feast on rabbits every night because they're plentiful and easy to catch.
So, do you want to hunt the over hunted or do you want to find the plentiful and under hunted game? Stop thinking about what you can't do and what you can't have and start focusing on what you can do and what you can have.
The funny thing about focus is that as soon as you change your focus and open your mind you begin to see all kinds of opportunities that were always there.
Let me share a story with you that demonstrates how a change in your focus could dramatically change your results.
There is an elderly gentleman who bags groceries at one of the stores I frequent.
Because I want to treat every person with kindness, respect and dignity when this gentleman helped me out with my groceries I struck up a conversation.
Now I noticed from his name tag that he had worked at this store for over 10 years.
Eventually I asked him what he did before he retired and started working at this store.
That's when he shared with me that he had retired from the company that eventually became Enron before things went south, and that he had sold the shares he acquired over the years shortly after retiring, and long before Enron went bankrupt.
Hello, now would you have ever learned this information if he had been carrying out your groceries? This gentleman doesn't have insurance agents and financial advisors knocking on his door because no one takes the time to talk to him and learn his story.
There is more business under your nose each and every day than you could possibly handle.
If you would only take the time to open your eyes and see it.
If you would only stop prejudging yourself and others, and look for the non-obvious opportunities that you're competition will never see.
If you would just give up that scarcity mentality and recognize the cornucopia on your front lawn.
