Thyroid Cancer Fasting Treatment

    Greens

    • Dark-green leafy plants contain chlorophyll, a known cancer-fighter, according to Phyllis Balch, a nutritionist and author of "Prescription for Nutritional Healing." Romaine lettuce, spinach, parsley and kale are good choices. Other chlorophyll sources are spirulina, sunflower sprouts and wheatgrass.

    Fruits

    • Use primarily antioxidant-rich vegetables such as beets, carrots, celery, cucumber and peppers. Add small amounts of tomato, lemon or apple to improve taste. Strong fruit juices may trigger intense cleansing.

    Waste Removal

    • Waste that recirculates while fasting can cause unpleasant symptoms. Warm water enemas can speed up elimination and relieve symptoms.

    Time Frame

    • According to Balch, most individuals can remain on a juice fast for one or two weeks without harming their health. If headaches, weakness, dizziness or flu symptoms occur, it may be best to end the fast.

    Breaking a Fast

    • A fast that is not ended properly will be ineffective and may cause harm. A large green salad is a perfect first meal. It may be followed by a bowl of fresh fruit. Eat only fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds for at least two days.
