- 1). First, you must keep in mind that training a Basset Hound can be very difficult as it is with any scent hound as they prefer to follow their noses. They are also a breed that has a low desire to please their owner. They may love you death but not respect you.

Make sure your hound understands that training can be fun. Most important with hounds in training is treats. Basset Hounds love treats and will do most anything to receive one.
- 4). Fourth, limit the time you spend in each training session. Basset Hounds become bored easily. It is better to have more short sessions than one long one.
- 5). Fifth, training crates and hidden reward work well when training your Basset Hound. Only give them the reward after they have followed your orders.
- 6). Sixth, make sure yiu start training at the right time. You do not want to start when your pet is too young or wait till they get too old.
- 7). Lastly, a great deal of patience and a lot of love may make the job of training your Basset Hound a little easier.
