  Minneapolis and Saint Paul, more commonly known as the Twin Cities, are located in the state of Minnesota. The Twin Cities are the state's largest cities, with Minneapolis being the state capital. A visit to the twin cities would necessitate a visit to some of the area's myriad momuments and landmarks.
  
  

The State Capitol Building

• The Minnesota State Capitol was constructed in 1853 and the burned down in 1881. The second capitol was built two years later but contained poor craftsmanship and was deemed unsuitable to carry out government duties. Within in 10 years a third building was constructed and it opened it 1905. It's been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1972. The inside of the building is lined with granite stone and the outside sectioned off with brick and marble. On the exterior of the capitol building is the Quadriga or golden horses, a copper sculpture.
  
  

Stone Arch Bridge

• The Stone Arch Bridge was constructed in 1883, composed of granite and limestone. The bridge functioned as an important part of the state's progress, providing access and easy trading for the supply of goods and mobility of workers. Containing stunning views, the Stone Arch Bridge is currently undergoing renovations. The St. Anthony Falls Heritage Trail runs past the bridge, which is said to provide an excellent marker for those on the trail.
  
  

Turnblad Mansion

• The Turnblad Mansion was designed by Swan Turnblad, a famous newspaper publisher. This 33-room home was built in 1908 and is considered an historic landmark. Oak primarily runs through the mansion as well as other wood types. Inside the structure is a museum that houses art, fabrics, pictures, and historical items that have been collectively claimed by the American Swedish Institute.
  
  

Forshay Tower

• The Forshay Tower is a hotel and skyscraper built in 1929. It is 447 feet high with an antenna extending the total height. The building was designed after the Washington Monument, with 32 floors. Considered superb architecture, it has been recognized and acclaimed within the National Register of Historic Places.
