- 1). Choose a main idea or theme for your language arts lesson plan. In order to write objectives, you must first have a main idea. Consult your language arts book, your curriculum plan or your state or local standards to see what types of things you should be teaching in Language Arts.
- 2). Begin your objectives with "After completing this lesson, students will be able to."
- 3). Write anywhere from three to seven statements to complete the sentence above. Each statement should reflect something that the student will learn in the lesson. Language Arts objectives might continue with statements like "be able to identify a noun and a verb" or "understand the plot for 'The Little Bunny.'"
- 4). Continue to write objectives until you have written everything that you think the students should learn from the lesson you are about to create.
