How to Replace Line on a Ryboi Weed Trimmer

    • 1). Unplug the power cord from the Ryobi trimmer. Remove the line spool case by applying pressure to it and unscrewing it in a clockwise direction. Remove any dirt or dead grass. Remove the spool and throw away any remnants of old string.

    • 2). Cut two lengths of new line from your string supply that are each 8 feet long. Cut them carefully using a sharp knife.

    • 3). Thread one of the lengths of new string through the top hole that is located on the line spool. Wrap the string in a counter-clockwise direction around the top half of the line spool, following the arrows that are etched into the side of the spool. Insert the end of the new string into the slot located at the top and leave 5 inches of new line sticking out.

    • 4). Thread the second length of new string through the bottom anchor of the spool. Wrap it around the bottom section of the spool in an counter-clockwise direction. Leave five inches of new line sticking out. Insert the new line in the slot that is located on the opposite side of the first line.

    • 5). Thread both new string lengths through the holes that are located in the string head. Reinstall the spool into the string head by pushing down on it. Pull on the two lines to release them from the slots they are in.

    • 6). Push down on the spool and turn it in an counter-clockwise direction until it clicks into place and will no longer turn. It is now locked in place. Reinstall the line spool case by twisting it back into position.

    • 7). Plug the power cord back in and switch on the trimmer. The new line string will automatically be cut to the correct cutting length.
