One area of a room that is often neglected when it comes to decorating for a party is the ceiling. The ceiling of a room is actually a useful place to hang decorations from because the decorations hung from the ceiling don't take up space on tables or the floor and they make a huge visual statement. Make use of this valuable space for your next party with hanging paper flower decorations.

    Paper Bag Flowers

    • Turn lunch bags into inexpensive and beautiful hanging party decorations with a paper punch. Punch several large scalloped edge circles from paper lunch bags. Poke a hole in a foam ball with a pencil tip. Squirt some hot glue into the hole and push one end of a length of ribbon into the hole.

Use a dot of hot glue in the center of each scalloped circle to attach it to the ball. Place the circles close together so their edges are pushed out away from the ball.

Cover the whole surface of the ball and then hang them up from the ceiling or use them as ornaments. Use several different colors of lunch bags to make differently colored flowers.

    Hanging Tissue Paper Flowers

    • Make colorful and fluffy paper flower decorations to hang from the ceiling for your next party. Take a stack of eight sheets of tissue paper. Accordion fold the stack of paper from one short edge to the other.

Wrap a piece of craft wire around the center of the accordion folded paper. Trim the ends of the stack to a rounded point. Tie a length of ribbon or twine around the center of the stack, over the top of the wire.

Fan out the accordion folded stack and then fan the individual pieces of accordion folded sheets out to create a large flower ball. Spray each flower with spray adhesive. Sprinkle glitter onto the flower to give it a light shimmer.

    Smaller Hanging Flower

    • Large hanging paper flower decorations are perfect for those times when you want to hang paper flowers from the ceiling to make a large statement.

When you are looking for something more subtle, a paper flower ornament is what you want. Cut 11 1-by-8 1/2 inch strips of decorative paper. Staple the stack of strips in the middle and fold them in half. Take the ends of the strips, one at a time, and curl them in toward the center of the folded stack.

Secure the tips in place with double-sided tape. Make sure you curl all the strips in the same direction. Cut strips of more than one color for a stack to make a multicolored flower. Hang the flower ornaments with a piece of string tied around the middle.
