- 1). Make a list of all your personal items you would like to distribute among loved ones.
- 2). Create a list of family members and any other beneficiaries you want to name in your will. This is a list of people to whom you want to leave any of your personal items.
- 3). Write a letter stating which items you want to give which beneficiary. Ensure your intentions are transparent in the letter. Sign the letter at the end of the letter. This will be considered your will for your personal items. Alternatively, have an attorney write it for you. This is not necessary, however.
- 4). Have two witnesses sign your will. Your witnesses cannot be someone listed as a beneficiary. If you had an attorney help you write your will, your attorney will sign.
- 5). Keep your will in a safe place where it can be accessed after your death. Tell your beneficiaries about the spot so they will be able to access your will.
