- 1). Find a good rubber surface for the bouncing part of your practice pad. Check the local dollar store. A mouse pad will work fine, but is a little thin. Look around for something that is thicker. Bring along a drum stick and test out the rubber. If it is quiet and bounces, then you have a good surface.
- 2). Find a good solid piece of wood that is at least an inch thick. The width can be anything you want it to be; just make sure the wood is level.
- 3). Now put a generous amount of glue on the back of the bounce surface and put it onto the wood. Make sure the bounce surface is centered. Press hard on the surface and make sure it is level. Let sit for a couple of hours.
- 4). Congratulations--you have just made a homemade practice pad. Enjoy!
