How to Stop Harassing Cell Phone Calls

    • 1). Activate caller ID and privacy services provided by your wireless carrier.

    • 2). Sign up for anonymous call rejection, which allows you to block incoming calls from people who have blocked their Caller ID information. The callers will hear a recording that says you do not accept calls from blocked numbers. More importantly, your phone will not ring.

    • 3). Keep a log of the harassing calls, including the number, date and time, gender and the sound of caller's voice. Other information to include is any background noise, whether the caller sounded intoxicated, the nature of the call (what was said) and any accent or speech impediment.

    • 4). Use a reverse cell-phone look-up service to find out who was making the calls. The next time they call, tell them you will report their name and number to the police. If they call again, report them to the authorities and log a police report.

    • 5). Call your wireless carrier to determine whether they can block calls from the harasser or set up a "trap" to find out the phone number the calls are coming from. Ask your carrier to enable call tracing on your line if it isn't already available.

    • 6). Allow your phone to go to voice mail the next time the harasser's number calls. If they leave a message, take your cell phone to the police station for another report.
