- If your party kids are old enough, bring on the scary movies. After all the birthday activities such as opening gifts, playing games and eating cake have been completed, have the kids get into their pajamas. They can set up their sleeping bags in the living room, family room or wherever you have your television. Pass out popcorn, candy or other snacks. Turn out the lights and get ready for a creepy movie.
Use your best judgment when choosing a video. If you have younger children, look for something that is age appropriate. If the kids have a choice, and can't agree, let the birthday boy make the final decision. - A talent show can get your birthday party going. Give the kids time to practice their routine. They can do this alone or in a group. If they are willing, have parents or a neighbor or two judge the talent show. If the birthday girl wants to, let her be one of the judges, or the announcer. Have a prize for the winning act.
You will probably want to include the talent show on the invitation, so the kids can bring costumes or music for their performance. - If the birthday child is a girl, set up an area of the house to serve as a beauty salon. Pamper the kids as if they were at their own spa. Recruit parents to help. Let the kids pick out nail colors, and then paint their fingernails and toes. Set up curling irons and rollers, and do their hair. Don't forget to put on some makeup for the final touch.
Take pictures during and after the spa experience. After they are all made up, take individual pictures of each kid and a group picture of them posing. Make copies for the kids and let them take the pictures home as a birthday party souvenir.
