Wounded Warrior

Wounded warrior Battle weary Physically drained and dreary Fighting day and night No peace in sight You win one battle Suddenly here comes another No time to sit and be merry With sister and brother Another day Another death Continual killing Nobody seems to be feeling No forgiveness, reconciliation, or healing Politicians rhetoric seemingly is not endearing Innocent civilians, these soldiers, they're fearing Occupied territories, nightly curfews Treating human beings like refuse Trying to protect them as best you can Yet while doing so You remove freedom from the land Nevertheless nobody seems to give a damn Ethnic violence, religious hatred, a sectarian war Nearly every soul seems rotten to the core You don't know who to trust Even women and children are for war used Made to fight against their will and abused To advance the jihadist cause Whatever that means Sunnis and Shiites remain divided it seems Nothing is quite clear Beyond Washington's agenda to remain Stay the course Suck the oil Meanwhile's soldiers families blood does boil As their sons endure daily suicide bombings Explosive upheaval Be it militaristic or ideological It seems to never cease And the soldier is never with a moment's peace Despite a divine release A word of prayer And touch of divine presence The solider must remain alert Always ready Stable and steady The truth however is it's not so easy Warriors also get sleepy Bellies get hungry Senses get exhausted Sometimes warriors even get wounded Take heart wounded warrior Be it from injury within or without Because you're a hero There is no doubt Though sometimes misled By your Commander in Chief God above will soon vindicate And provide relief.
